Garage Door Rollers
Garage Door Rollers and Garage Door Roller Parts reviews.
We will review the major aspects you need to ponder when selecting garage door rollers.
Garage Door Rollers
If your garage door is difficult to raise and lower, one item to look at is the Garage Door Rollers. While the garage door itself may not need replacing, the wheels, sometimes called rollers, may need replacing. Many different manufacturers make replacement parts, so you are certain to find wheels that will work with your current garage door.
Steel Garage Door Rollers
Steel rollers are sturdy and hold up to most weather conditions. National Hardware's model V7601 can be used to replace worn or broken 4 3/8 inch stem length rollers on roll up style garage doors. The roller has a 7/16" shaft and seven ball bearings. The wheel and shaft are both made of plain steel. The kit starts at $6.00 for a set of two, with the garage door hinge being sold separately.
If you need a longer stem for your sectional, heavy duty garage door, National Hardware's model V7602 Garage Door Rollers may be what you need. The roller works on double hinged applications and has a longer 7 9/16" stem length. Each wheel contains 10 ball bearings and comes lubricated from the factory. This gives the roller a smooth operation and a long life. Prices start at $5.58 for a set of two.
Nylon Garage Door Rollers
National Hardware makes a replacement standard roller with a nylon wheel that is compatible with most sectional garage doors. The nylon wheel is quieter than the steel wheel. Model V7603 can be used to replace worn nylon or steel rollers. The roller has a 4" stem and 7/16" steel shaft. It is recommended that you replace all of the rollers on the door to ensure an even wear pattern. Prices start at $4.62 for two replacement wheels. Replacement door hinges are sold separately.
If you have a heavier garage door, National Hardware also makes Garage Door Rollers that have a rating of 125 pounds per roller. The roller has a nylon wheel and 13 ball bearings. The shaft length is 4" and is designed for a 2" track. These replacement wheels come in a pack of 10 for $29.99 and a pack of 12 for $31.99.
Lubricating Garage Door Rollers
After replacing your wheels, it is important to lubricate them with a Teflon based spray lubricant. By using Telfon lubricant on your wheels, your door will continue to raise and lower easily and quietly. DuPont makes a multi-use lubricant that lubricates without attracting dirt and grime. This eliminates squeaks and can also protect your steel wheels against rust and corrosion because of its waterproof technology. Prices start at $4.99 for the 16 ounce multi-use lubricant and $3.99 for the smaller, 4 ounce bottle
Whether you are replacing worn Garage Door Rollers or putting up a new garage door, it is important to determine which type of roller will work best with your garage door. With proper maintenance and lubrication, the wheels can last you for a long time. If you are replacing rollers on your existing garage door and are uncertain as to which wheel will best, most manufacturers have a customer service number that can help you with any replacement parts you may need.
